“Leadership challenges in a changing world”

Dr Panos Manolopoulos will examine the main global trends that are challenging today’s leaders. Issues like the accelerating globalization, the climate change and the scarcity or resources, the demographic changes and the increasingly digital lifestyle need to be taken into consideration both for managing as well as for leading a company. Though global, several of these challenges have a different meaning in the Middle East, where trends are influenced by local and regional characteristics and balances. Combining a global perspective with a local focus, Dr Panos will share some thoughts and practices regarding the most efficient and effective empowerment of human talent in the Middle Eastern business environment.

Looking at issues which affect business strategy in the UAE: manpower planning; emiratisation; performance management; attracting talent; engaging talent and retaining it; recognition and reward.

“Managing high staff turnover for consistent service delivery”

Andreas Winklhofer will point out how turnover challenges the service quality in a 5 star hotel. He will elaborate the reasons for the high turnover, the costs and the replacement process and highlight methods to decrease turnover. As service quality is the key to a successful hospitality business, he will point out challenges related to high staff turnover and how to overcome them to support consistent service quality and customer satisfaction.
